A New Name for Hospital Chaplaincy​

​December 2024

 

After more than 30 years as the Interchurch Council for Hospital Chaplaincy (ICHC) and over 50 years of service to New Zealand’s public health system, we are rebranding as Hospital Chaplaincy Aotearoa, effective as of 11 December 2024.

Nelson Commissioning 2024

New Volunteer Chaplaincy Assistants Commissioned in Nelson

Several new Volunteer Chaplain's Assistants were  recently commissioned as part of the Nelson Hospital Chaplaincy team. The service opened with a karakia and waiata from Nelson Hospital’s Director of Maori Health and was followed by a reflection by lead chaplain, Rev Stephen Gully.

It's always exciting to welcome new chaplains and we recently commissioned three new ones in the Canterbury region: Maui Stuart (Maori Chaplain – Christchurch Hospitals), Graeme Hight (Christchurch Hospital) and Eddie O’Connor (Burwood Hospital).
