A Moment Worth Celebrating
For many patients, the end of treatment is more than just a milestone — it marks the completion of a long, often challenging journey.
Recently, one of our chaplains was invited to share in such a moment. A patient, who had been undergoing chemotherapy and radiation, asked the chaplain to stand alongside her as she rang the bell to mark the end of her treatment.
It was a powerful and deeply moving occasion.
Over the course of her time in hospital, this patient had shown remarkable strength and determination. Alongside the physical challenges of treatment, she had also embraced a journey of personal growth — reflecting, adapting, and finding new ways to hold hope in difficult circumstances.
The chaplain had the privilege of supporting her along the way — offering encouragement, presence, and space to navigate all that she was facing. To be invited into this final moment of celebration was an honour.
As the bell rang, it carried with it more than sound — it marked courage, resilience, and a future opening up again.

Moments like these are a reminder of the full journey chaplaincy shares with patients: walking alongside people through uncertainty and challenge, and sometimes, being there to witness joy, relief, and new beginnings.
It is a privilege to be part of these stories. 💙
